The success of Taalus’ Audio Visual installation services has led to a number of jobs in strange places. The original requirement was notified to Taalus as fitting a 42” plasma screen into a police van. To start with, we thought we would be working on some amazing undercover vehicle! However on discussing the requirement with the Police, it turned out they are trying out a new form of community policing.
Dorset Police wanted a plasma screen installing into two vans, which would be parked in town centres and the like to provide entertainment for youngsters coming out of clubs, or with nothing else to do. Vans were also to be equipped with Playstation, video, DVD, TV and PC facilities.

Tallus’ AV team sorted out the requirements with Dorset Police Transport Department and Taalus engineers Tom Williams and David Inshaw were despatched to carry out the installation.
The screens were fitted to bespoke strengthening plates, with cabling installed in special housing to make it as unobtrusive as possible. The vehicles were still being fitted out at the time of installation and none of the AV equipment was there, so they powered up and tested using a Laptop. The work was carried out at the specialist vehicle fitters, and completed over a two day period.
